Getting the rearend filler plug out

Any suggestions on getting the rearend filler plug out. Seems the previous owner tried and failed.

is it the kind you put a 3/8 ratchet in, if so is it stripped out?

Yes 3/8" ratchet. And they have rounded it out

Weld a nut onto it.

i have had better luck with welding a bolt in after pounding it in to the 3/8 hole.

i have used a big ass torque socket and hammered it in and it worked,
