How do you guys do it by yourself? I pretty much have no help other than my girlfriend (but shes no help ). My dad has a bad back and he doesnt have much interest in me taking it off. So how do you guys do it????

I've done it a couple ways. If you have access to a garage, a really simple way is to hang some rope loops from the ceiling. Then get in the back of the truck and lift up one end, slip the loop under the top and then do the other end. This worked great when I had a garage with open rafters.

The other way I've done it is when I had a really tall curb by my house, I'd back up to it and put my back flat against the roof. Stand up, balance it on my back and walk off. You could do the same very easily if you build a nice sturdy ramp to use out of plywood and 2x4's. VERY STURDY tho... you'd be lifting something like 200 or 300lbs of top, plus your body weight. ;) Anyway, walk it off, kneel down and crawl out!

Well the garage idea is outta the question cause my K5 won't in it haha. But you did give me an idea. I could back my truck up to the house and their is a low flat part on my roof which I could lift it up there pretty easy. Thanks for the idea! ;)

If you have the room or place to I use corral 3 panels set up in a U shape, I back the blazer in,unbolt the top then using my back and arse lift one end at a time, then I have two 2x6`es I slide between the top of the corral panel and under the tops edge then drive away.
The panels might be a bit redneck for the front of a nice house but a similar frame of 4x4`s and 2x4`s can be cheaply and neatly made to serve the same purpose.

when i use to take mine off i didn't care bout the paint so i would just use my back to walk it back and when it felt like it wanted to slide back i would get out go to back and slide it to the ground then let it sit upside down. move the truck forward and flip it right side up and drag it to where ever i wanted it. last time i took it off i put above the shop are that was a pain. don't think i'll ever take it off to much work.

X2 on apache's idea. I built a u-shaped frame out of 4x4s and 2x4s. backed in and only had to lift the top about 6 inches to slide the cross boards in. Worked great.

I back up to the side of one of my sheds, then walk it onto the roof of that. Or I back up to the side of my K20, and walk it onto that. With the K20, it's alittle harder since I have to crawl out and get into the pickup bed to finish pulling the top off.
