The only thing I've ever ordered from sears in the last 7-8 years have been Gladiator cabinets and it seems that there's a 50-50 chance of them being damaged. I don't know if it's faulty packaging from whirlpool or from just being man-handled during shipping.

My most recent order were 4 30" wall cabinets and two were damaged. One wasn't so bad and I was just going to live with it, but the other one was beat to hell and I figured that since I'd for sure be returning that one, I might as well return the other one too.

I've got to wonder at what point does spending a little extra on the packaging outweigh the money lost on returns that are damaged? :dunno:

They don't care about cost of replacement, the insurance pays.
That is why I hate the insurance concept, it makes people not care about quality or anything else for that matter.

We used to get lots of equipment shipped in to our plant. There were several trucking companies serving Panama City, and all but one were pretty good.

I know that it had to be just a local thing, because they are a huge outfit, but everything we got in on Roadway was damaged.

We once got in an 8 foot long, open type cooler, broken in half.........
Not damaged, bent, or warped, actually broken in two pieces. I cannot even imagine how they did it.
This is a big mulitdoor cooler like goes behind a bar to keep the beer cold. They actually taped a piece of cardboard over the ends, maybe hoping we would not notice.
I briefly thought that the factory had gotten the order wrong and sent us two 4 foot coolers.
Didn't take long to realize that was not right.

When the insurance guy showed up and surveyed the damage, he asked the value. Its been a long time, but I think it was about $900 for the whole thing.
He wanted to know if it could be repaired.........

I said, no, its broken in half.
But could it be repaired if you got a new case?
I pointed out that the inside liner, the frame, the refrigeration unit, and the doors were all destroyed.
I supposed that the insulation could be salvaged.......

He wanted to know a price to rebuild it.
I gave up. Quoted him a price of $15,000 to repair it. He actually seemed to consider it, but then said that it was too much more than a new one.......

Trust me, the best packing in the world will not save something if the right people get ahold of it.

I don't recall which supplier it was, but one of the auto body panel vendors has added a disclaimer that damage happens in shipping....live with it.

That sounds like LMC.

Replacement body parts are quality steel replacement parts that are made overseas. Having been shipped half way around the world by ship and then by truck, there will most likely be a few scratches or small dents; this cannot be helped and should be expected. A small amount of repair may be required. All body parts are packaged and handled with great care.
