ill be replacing the glass in my 75 k5 soon, front windsheild and glass to the top,the full covertable top style . Was kinda wanting to install the sliding style rear glass from a newer blazer to get more air flowing back there,as the one I have is just one solid peice.how difficult is this to do? Will the sliding style windows from a newer k5 fit into my old 75 ?In addition ,will a front window from a 80s also fit directly into my 75? Thanks!

Yes and yes...

Topper glass is easy enough for the average n00b like myself to do at home. Front glass, get a pro IMO.

Does the newer 80s glass with the slider have like metal frame ? Easy peasy? Pop out, pop in ,and done deal? Thanks for the quick response also ,i apreciate!:waytogo:

Yeah, the aluminum frame on the slider glass is the exact dimension of the plain glass. There is a metal clip about dead center along the bottom of the glass. If you gently pry that clip out you'll see two ends of the rubber rope inside the rubber seal. Pull that rope out completely, and with some patience you'll be able to pull the old glass out.

I used liquid hand soap to lube the rubber for installation of the slider. once it's in place a bit more hand soap lube in the groove and the slightly tedious part putting the rubber rope back was easier. I used a pair of really dull screwdrivers and just worked my way around the frame.

I'm sorry but I just gotta point out how dirty that sounds, then again I'm a sick SOB anyway :haha:

This has proven itself to be kind of a PITA X50000000 without the soap. Without the soap your nowhere. Trying again tommorow. Fyi thinking about putting the rubber seal in some hot water to soften it up some first. Its almost like you need 2 screwdrivers, or the tool ryok posted earlier. Lol!

After 4 days of trying finally I got er.I was about to call a glass guy .... My advise is to the noobs (like myself) is just to keep trying.I worked my way from the bottom to the top. If you set the window in the bottom part of the rubber seal to -rest- on ,then work your way around. The last corner is the hard bit.I chipped a little but u can't see it. I'm proud of myself. Hehe. Thanks for the advise ck5!:thumb:
