glove box latch

Can someone tell me how to remove the glove box latch from the glove box. I'm painting the dash and would like to remove it from the box. It is not the lockable type. I know there is a threaded ring that has to come off but I can't figure out how to remove the inner mechanism that has to come off first before the ring can be removed. Probably pretty easy, just can't see what releases it.

Easy, on the inside of the latch there is a tab that is spring loaded. Push that tab in with a small screwdriver and if not corroded or really dirty, the guts will come out the front and then the nut is easy to get to. Can get pics if needed.
