I have a locking glove box on the jimmy purchased from lmc, hardly used, today I found the key, put it in, locked it, pulled key and now it won't unlock. Key goes in but doesn't turn the lock mechanism.

Ideas.

I am thinking drill it out until it comes apart????

Is it like the stock glove box in the dash or more like a center console?

The dash door can be unscrewed from underneath the dash with a short stubby screwdriver if you can mangle your hands really tight. The console type thing is probably harder to break into. Some of the repro ones have screws on the sides you might be able to use to disassemble it.

Yep stock glove compartment on the passenger side dash. Got frustrated and had to walk away.

Will have to look at the screws on the bottom that go to the hinge tomorrow. Thanks!

Then went to fire up the ATV and PHHHTT nothing. so re-filled the battery and hit it with the charger for a while and it fired up, geez its only been like 3 months since I tried to start it. So we will take it out for a spin tomorrow. Then maybe after I get back I will feel like attacking the glove box. If that doesn't go well then off to the range!:D

If the cardboard portion is all still intact, it may require you cutting the cardboard a bit or shoving it up inside the box to access the screws. Mine was kinda sloppy so I was able to shove it up enough.

You could also try the old "hammer a flathead screw driver into the keyhole and turn the lock with a pair of vise-grips" method.

I grabbed the pushbutton part with some channel locks and turned it till it was in the right place and it still didn't want to push in. So one good wack with the Ball Peen hammer and voila' open.

Ordered a new one from Brothers trucks and put it in today. Now just to figure out where my tranny fluid leak is coming from:mad: Either a line, or maybe off the dipstick tube:doah:
