Lately when I cycle on the key I get the WAIT light but it won't go out. Cycling the key off and then back on a time or two it still won't go out. If I try to start it it won't start because the glow plugs didn't warm but after a short crank I can cycle off/on the key and the glow plugs will work normally. I get a standard wait light that goes out and it will start right up. It's to the point that now I go key on, wait, crank, shut off, key on, wait, light goes out, truck starts.
The funny thing is, due to my charging problem I have a multimeter wired in the cab to the battery. Even on the initial key on the voltage drops appropriately and I can hear the relay click on so something is drawing a lot of power but it's not heating the glow plugs. I need to probe the relay with the key on to see if the 12v is actually going to the plugs. Truck does have a 12v conversion per the Roscommon instructions.
Suggestions? Sound like relay is going bad?
