My glow plugs don't seem to be coming on. The wait light works, but I don't hear the relay kicking in. Brand new batteries.

Funny thing is when the batteries were dead and I jumped it, I could hear the relay click and the truck would fire right up on the first or second try.

Seems like it should work with just the batteries too since the jumper cables were hooked to the batteries. Any ideas?

This is an M1010 for reference.

It is possible something failed... or something got fried if you hooked up the jumper cables incorrectly. Jumping a 24V truck with a 12V truck can be tricky.

How do you check a glow plug to see if its working? I've seen info about using an ohm meter.

Easiest thing to do is use a 12V test light. Clip the aligator end to the positive battery terminal. Then one by one, pull the wire off the glow plug and touch the test light to the spade terminal of the glow plug. If it lights up the GP is good, no light and its bad.

Thanks, I'll try this. I think I'm going to do the manual glow plugs if the plugs check out good.
