I wondered if anyone out there had an opinion as to which GM crate motor would be better. For my purposes, I have narrowed it down to either the 330hp 350 or the 370hp 350 with the roller cam. My initial thoughts were to get as much power as possible but now I am thinking the lower horsepower motor might be better suited to off road. Does anyone have any experience with either of these motors. Will I really miss 40 horsepower if I go with the cheaper motor? Are there any advantages one way or the other that anyone can offer? Thanks.

personal more power is better but when i got my motor i baed it more on the wallet so i would go with a the cheaper motor and the 40 housre you lost you never had so oh well =-)

Just MHO, I'd go with the 370 hp motor, unless it has a real nasty idle...
Power is good

but either will probably make a nice replacement mill.

Well LV... here's my .02 worth... the Gm motors are great, but all the cams tend to send the power up too high in the rpm range for my taste... There really is no need for anything over 4grand in a truck/street application in my mind... although I was cruisin Scoggin-Dickey's parts and finally found the one I'd grab if I was gonna go crate... a 383 truck motor... looks like a sweet motor for torque

LOL... yeah bring on the BBC! Wahooo!!! I'd really like to go either of these engines, but cripes man... that is some serious coin. Especially when you can get a shortblock 350 for $650 w/ warranty or a 383 shortblock assmebled for 1200....

Maybe I should recam the old 496... Could move up to a 541 stroker for the next drag car

I've got the 330 HP version with the Edelbrock power package (Intake, cam, lifters) and it's a well rounded motor. The only change I would have made was to upgrade the motor mounts while it was out.

Vegas, horsepower is nice in a racecar, torque is nice in a truck. I myself, would be looking at engines that put out alot of torque for a blazer. GOPHERKILLER

...a 383 for instance...
Them's torquey bastards!
