How about finding a High pinion housing and going all GM everything else and it being on Passenger side??

Well after the last trip I realized I have some angle issues. I have thought of spending a grip on a High angle driveshaft but I don't want to limit myself to being so "unique" on the trail for fixing purposes. I am going to invest in an ARB and gears so I figure this might be the right time.

What say you?? Can it be done reasonably?? Worth it??

i priced a lot of stuff and found for under 2k you can get a bare housing from dyna trac.

pro 60 high pinion housing
tubes
reid ( dedenbear inner c"s )
ready for your parts and finish install.

i think that might have been shipped to the door .

this was few months ago.

since you are going gears / arb / and want high pinion . i dont think it would be a bad choice in the end.

just read were someone said 50 tons to press tube in and out with heat. then machine work for the plug welds to be removed to do the tube swap per side. then the main problem with stock ford 60 hp is no pass side spring perch.

lots to think about. but hope this helps.

So this was all coming from dynatrac?? Just need to swap all my guts and ends to theres?
Not Bad

you half to call and ask for the kingpin reid inner c"s or supply your own inner c"s . most all the new stuff thay do now is balljoint. but thay will build king pin stuff these days.

What about clocking the other way and going with a Ford front end?

well i see it this way.

cali = find a dana 60 for a decent deal

then to bolt one in a gm truck you need to find a 78-79 front. then play with ford brakes or swap out the knuckle out and go gm outers. :eek1:

but then you will need to get a ford tcase and modify the tcase for gm input and modify the adaptor to fit. or do a doubler kit. then more money.

kinda crazy that its almost to the point where its more cost effective to build a custom axle than to buy one to rebuild and upgrade from stock.

if u bought a bare housing for hp chevy pretty sure ud have to run the reverse cut gears for the ford's but i could be wrong tho.

rotating the C's would probably be the cheapest, just dont rotate them too much

ya reverse cut gears a must. but he said he was going to regear anyways.

and dont forget turning the axle up will req major work on the spring perch area pass side and the 2 bolt holes in the diff for the spring plate.

lots of stuff to add up and get right in the end.

thats why whole bare new housing would be prob best. thay will give you a spec sheet to fill out and set the whole thing up for exactly the specs needed.
