Well I picked up my higher steer crossover this morning it is complete except for rod ends. Should I go with GM rod ends or Heim joints ?
Mark

Go with GM parts. They are strong and wont wear out as fast.

TRE's are much stronger than a Heim end. The TRE's are single shear but have a taper and a Heim is single shear but you use a straight shank bolt to clamp them in place.

TRE's are not double shear.

They are, however, intended to be run in single shear (hence the taper in the steering arm) while heims are not.

TRE's are what you should use.

The rods are threaded 7/8-18 for TRE but I can't tell if the arms have a taper or not. I will have to check on that.

Thanks,
Mark

Well I checked the arms and they are tapered. TRE's it will be.

Thanks,

ok, i've heard of heim joints... what are TRE's, and does anyone have a pic of them...? i'm building a crossover system, i decided that would be best...

TRE means tie rod end, its the factory joint at the end of each steering link.

You can see what they look like in ORD's crossover kit here.
