I just finished installing a motor in my K10 and forgot to get the casting off the block. Can it still be read?

All I know about the motor is that it's a two bolt main and V8 . The motor is out of an 87 V30? The heads are the later style but the motor is driver side dipstick with the tube way back between cylinders 5 and 7 I think.

I'm just hoping its not a 307 or something worse than the 305 it replaced.

The numbers you need are stamped into a machined pad on the block deck surface just in front of the passenger side cylinder head. I can tell you though that the block is 1979 and earlier being a driver side dipstick.

found it (or at least one code)

According to the engine number V0414CNV and after googling it....?

I couldn't get to the casting number. It's weird that the engine number said 70 model camaro/caprice (depending on website) . When I had to buy a oil pan gasket and three trips to auto zone, finally bringing the oil pan in the store....the parts guy just guessed and put in 70 camaro 350 and that was the right one.

the casting numbers can be seen with a mirror and flashlight somttimes. im guessing it will a 3970010

on the oil pan gaskets there are 2 different thicknesses in the drivers side dipstick engines.
