can anyone tell me where to find some of this stuff "gm top engine cleaner"(tec)?I think my engine is full of carbon build up.I hear all sorts of talk of this stuff to remove carbon on the piston and combustion chamber.suppose to help stop spark knock.anybody know where I could by some online? Thanks Dominic

yup, seafoam will do the same.. all these products are usually made of the same stuff... even marine stuff i use is very similar, like mercruiser powertune....

Another cheap simple way of getting rid of carbon deposits on valves and pistons is to get a 1/4 cup of ATF and suck it up with the PCV vacuum hose with the RPM's bumped up about a 1000. Make sure your exhaust pipes are not pointed at anything that you don't want black sh!t all over.

if it's due to carbon buildup and not a timing or lean condition... what's the mileage?

it's not timing because I retarded the timing and it still knock under load,it's either carbon build up or intake sucking air I think and I hope, motor as around 40000 km.new motor me and my dad put in my jimmy 12 years ago,400 sb.I've had the truck for 12 and half years.

i'd run a full can thru the pcv hose, and dump another one in the tank....

I will try this thursday I'm off, going to keep my fingers cross, sure hope it's not the bearings.I check my oil and there dont seem to be any metal in the oil,but I have a magnet in the bottom of my oil pan so this kind a keeps me in the dark.this knock is driving me crazy, dont want to change my engine fock!
