did gm ever offer a truck with a rear mounted gas tank?? i,ve been junk yard hunting for an axle and well i saw a swb pick up, yes a pick up on top of like 15 cars and well i couldmt check. but it did have what loooked liken a factory rear tank

I have put a suburban tank under a pickup. I don't think we had to change hardly anything. It was a while ago though

Suburbans and Blazers had rear mounted tanks. I believe both can be retrofit to a pick-up without any mods.

Yes, there was an option for a center mounted tank in some trucks in some years. (Obviously I'm a bit vague on the details.) It would negate the option for the glide-out spare tire mount, under the bed.

it was like a 1973 short bed, the filler hole was on the passenger rear panel

I have seen several that were 2nd gen 73 and newer that had two tanks both fillers were on the same side and seems like the rear tank filler was behind the wheel well toward the rear of the truck.
