GMC/Chevy interchangable parts?

Hey guys I have a 1991 GMC Suburban and I know most of the parts are interchangeable between the Chevy Suburban and the GMC Suburban for this year. But what parts are or are not? I'm looking for a push bar/grill guard for my rig but can't find one I like. Ive noticed there are more options for the Chevy Burb than the GMC Burb. If I find one for a 91 Chevy Burb that I like will it also fit my 91 GMC Burb? I'm pretty sure it would but I want to make sure before I spend a few hundred bucks.

81-87-91 on blazer / suburban / crew cab . is the same front end.

have you looked at a military brush guard ? there a direct bolt on and fairly beefy . look for m1008/m1009/m1028/m1031 trucks.

The grille and body trim are the types of things that don't interchange. The body panels, frame, drivetrain, etc are the same.

They are the EXACT same vehicles with different grilles and emblems.

88-91 if swapping grills you need grill / and headlight bezels also .

I found the lower steel body part, between the bumper and the plastic grille, is slightly different as well... although nothing a pair of pliers can't fix if you are swapping between GMC and Chevy grilles.

Why do I know this? The PO had installed a GMC grille on my Chevy Suburban. I wanted to bring it back to it's roots, and not have a half & half truck (the tailgate and dash still said Chevy).

ok cool. thanks guys for the info. I'm looking for one of the old school push bars but it seems they don't make them anymore. looks like I'll have to stay on top of checking the junkyards and craigslist.

Do you have a picture of what you are looking for?

I found mine at JC whitney; the chrome was pretty sucky though and rusted really quicky.

It's a nice place to mount my KC fog lights at least, but it's quite rusty at this point

Yup, that's my Suburban

I just took a look at JC Whitney though, and all I see is the chrome version listed for quite a bit more than what I payed years ago. There was a black version available at that time; part of a modular assembly where you could get headlight covers that attach to it. They didn't look good though.

I wish you luck in finding what you want; I'd give mine up in a second if I found a Warn bumper
