Ok so where do I find a RPM governor for my 700r4? Been searching but I cant find any part numbers. Thanks

I have been searching for about 2 hours now on diesel conversion to a 6.2 and my eyes hurt and my brain is fried. Everyone says you need a different tq converter, but which one?

I will be putting a 6.2 to a 700r4/208. Planning on 4.56 gears with at least a 37"-39" tire. I know nothing about transmissions, so someone please clue me in, thanks!

I believe it is a GM3 or GM30 part number from Auto Zone you need. I just threw one away from my K-5 I did a swap on from 6.2 to 350 in. If you would have posted days ago I could have gave you one.

What else are you lookin for? I have a bunch of stuff bookmarked and saved.

If you are going to run 37-39" tires go deeper then 4.56's if you want to keep your 700R4 alive. I know diesel operate at a lower RPM band but this is a V8 diesel not a I6.

I would do 4.88's or 5.13's especially if you really plan on 39's.

I have 42's and 4.56's, and want an overdrive gear on my tranny... I'd really like 39's and OD or about 45-46's and just a 3spd, but I had to deal with what I had so I went with the biggest tire I thought wouldn't break my junk immidiately in a tire I like =)

Get a membership and ask in the diesel forum.

Also consider http://www.62-65-dieselpage.com 's forum. LOTS of good 6.x GM diesel info there.

I've got a TH400, 38's, 4.56's, and a J-code 6.2L and I can say it's got nice low end and drives good but OD would be good for higher speeds. 55mph and under and it's fine but you don't want to maintain high speeds.
Go 4.56's and the 700R4 and you should be okay. Remember these things are happiest at around 1800-1900 rpm when cruising. Gear too low and you'll just be revving it all the time.

TCI or someone is guaranteed to make a governor tuning kit. I know I've seen them for the 200's, 700 is going to use close or exact same parts.

kind of a hijack, but almost isnt****

where are you guys finding LOW stall torque converters
like 1k-1.1k rpms?

My membership just expired this week and I am job less and poor so for now it will be expired. I am planning on 4.88s with my 700 so I should be ok. Man I am psyched for diesel, now if I could just get my membership back and be able to answer non member stuff again! :D

My Sub has a 6.2 with 39.5 Iroks and 5.13 gears. The RPMs stay low even with this gearing. I can do 70 on the highway, gun it and it will downshift to third and still be able to pull for another 10-15 mph without having the revs be stupidly high.

I had 4.56s and it wouldn't stay in OD unless I wa going faster than 65 and then it did the upshift downshift thing a lot. I think the 5.13s and a 37 would be a good mach

Told a friend I'd build a TH350 for him, but I had only used Transgo shift kits before.

He bought a B&M shift kit of some type, and upon asembly, it didn't work. I knew exactly why, the instructions were so poor there was no way to determine which direction a certain piece was supposed to go in, and had to drop the valve body under the car to reverse its orientation.

Not to mention, the trans shop that does work for the local GM dealers (and it's a huge place) uses and sells only Transgo stuff.

I know B&M makes good stuff, but they put a sour taste in my mouth, and I go elsewhere if possible.
