Soo last night I got the bug again, I have always wanted to build a clean 1st gen, I figure with the white truck locked and on 41inch iroks, and a locked up buggy I should not have to worry about tempting my self to take it rock crawling.

I want to go all the way down to the frame on this one, I am even maybe interested in getting a frame first and starting on the full drive train.

I plan to move in the next year and buy a house so having a complete truck in a million pieces might make for a bad idea and lost parts.

I could get the detail work done with no rush to put the body on and then get another complete running k5 so I can move it around while getting the bulk of the sheet metal work complete.. hmm....... Ok I'm doing it:D:saweet:

I damn myself all day everyday, I wish my mind would shut up, so I am thinking about buying the running k5 1st, I figure why not enjoy one while I am building the other:D The prices are killer right now! On the flip side, it would be nice to not tie up the cash as I will be needing it for the drive train I have planned.... 6.0 4l80 241 or 5.3 4l60 241..or a early pre 04 5.3 or 6.0 combo with a 5speed, harder to find though.

3500 !

This is a 1971 chevy blazer, manual transmission, low mileage rebuilt 350 engine. It has several upgrades including 4" lift, shackles, new ac components, Double wall top. Needs paint.

1970 Chevrolet K-5 Blazer, new carb, new fuel pump, new tires, new leather vintage seat, good glass, good body panels, doors hang straight, straight frame, dual shocks in front, spring lift kit. Dual exhaust with dual tips, excellent headers and exhaust, auto trans, power assist steering for easy handling, runs good.

Needs some work to make solid daily driver, or nice start for show truck

Buy either of the complete , never lifted , low slung stock ones . Thats what I would start with . Less likely to have been in 4 low too often . Makes for less abuse . The white one looks like it was family owned ( nice house and camper ) , and it has a rollbar already :thumb:

well I am not overly concerned with it being lifted or not, I plan on just using the body and parts, I will use a different frame all together. But yes, I am alot more interested in a non lifted and one that has seen little use or 4low time!

Good points there Pauly, But I'd go with the garaged Orange one with the black top. Garages make trucks last much much longer. Besides if I could do it again I'd go with an original Chevrolet Orange K5. Doesn't get much more authentic than that.

funny you say that because that one looks the worst in the pics "rockers" they look rusty, I will do any needed repair I just want to find the best candidate for the build to save me time

If you want to go first gen then I'd go with a '72 that is orange/yellow with the white top. Seems like the '72s have a small edge in value. Just my opinion though.

If you are going to replace the driveline, frame anyway, I would just buy the one with the least rust, expecially in the tub. IMO.

Pete..

yes, one with the least rust is the plan,

I am going to go look at a frame this weekend, the whole chassis with 4 speed and 205 , d-shafts and axles for 500.00.... sounds like a deal to me, Ill sell off the drive train and come out a head. I am showing up with a trailer, so if its in good shap I'm bringing it home!:D
