Thanks guys, I needed to hear that I made a good call, knowing that rust is common on these I was 2nd guessing if I was being too critical.

Greg - just like you said, I have no issues spinning wrenches, and worked at a dealership solving electrical issues on modern cars, so im not worried about those on these trucks. But i'm no body man, so you hit the nail on the head with my mindset on truck shopping.

as for looking, I had been trolling ebay, and craigsnationwide.com, and just seeing what was out there. I had done the general classifieds here on CK5, but didnt know there was a first gen specific one, Ill check that out, thanks

You definitely made the right choice. As soon as I saw the shiny paint my immediate thought was RUN!!! It seems like the shiny/nice paint trucks end up being the worst. Shop in the desert where the trucks look like crap, everything is dry-rotted off, but the worst rust you will find does not even qualify as surface rust. Blow a coat of paint on it, replace the weatherstrip and move on to better things--like the drivetrain.
