Ok I'm in the middle of a re-wire and it was going smoothly til I got to the light switch. I have seen two different wiring diagrams of the interior lighting and also a switch diagram. This is what I "know" correct me if I'm wrong. My harness has 7 wires, two of them in the same connection.

White - Dome ground
Red - Power
Light Blue - Headlights
Green - Cluster lights
Brown - Parking lights
Orange x2 - Dome light power

Now my confusion is the orange, in one diagram I see that all of the lights get power directly and they come on when a door is opened via the door switch completing the circuit. If this is correct why is dome power going to the light switch? Someone please help I'm going cross-eyed reading wiring diagrams.

Dome power goes to the light switch so you can manually turn on the light by turning the light switch knob.

In my diagram it shows that there is a constant power source going to the dome light, and the white wire leading to the switch is a ground. So when you turn the knob it completes the ground.

Ok guys nevermind I figured out what is going on, I purchased a re-wire kit from EZ Wiring, it is a 21 circuit fuse block which has a dome light circuit. The original wiring provided power to the light circuit via the switches power.

The dome light circuit in this trucks, mainly my K5 Blazer is not normal. I dont know what GM was thinking. But they are all tied into each other in a weird way. I cant explain it. Its just odd. I had a tough time trying to figure out what was pos and what was neg and found out it was all positive, lol.

Glad u got it though.

Took a look at that and it's got some great info! Happen to know if there's anything for the 88-91? I've got the -87 Hanes manuals, couldn't find the later years, but I've found that the wiring is different enough to want something more specific.

Overall it was a pretty easy process, it has taken about 14 hours of work to get it finished but I have used split tubing on every wire and also am heatshrinking every connection. I'm hoping I will never have to re-visit electrical issues......assuming I didn't screw anything up..... I have the fire exstinguiser on stand by and will find out in a few hours
