Say someone was to fall upon anohter set of axles... and were to try to sell their current one ton set up... what would be the going rate for...

Dana 60 front NO MILES
-all 35 spline, no neck downs
-new brakes
-cross over steering arm and drag link
-Detroit locker
-4.88s
-all new bearings, king pins, etc
-lock outs and drive flanges

14 bolt - used
-Detroit
-4.88s
-brackets for a disc swap but nothing more.

Just curious.
:xmas:

I would think you could get 2K for both.......Of course the Dana 60 being the selling point.

I have too much money in my D44 to get a 60 at this point but I am sure some one who is just building there rig would be interested:pimp:

2k on the low side. I would be thinking $2500 to 3000 around here. The D60 here in stock used shape is worth $1000.
It depends on the market area though. I wouldn't sell them for less then $2500 unless I was in a jam and needed cash quick.

the key is finding someone who is going to do the entire swap (1 tons + gears and lockers) all at once. if and i say if you find the right person during the buildup of their rig you could get 2500-3000 no prob once they go and price the cost of EVERYTHING you're offering. i've thought about this w/ my blazer when thinking "what is the salvage value of my rig" and then getting sad because that number always falls way short of the invested value.

There are VERY few vehicles that would qualify as an investment. All the rest fall into the "transportation" and/or "entertainment" categories. :( You'll never get back what you spend on one.

BTW, there's a guy on www.colorado4x4.org that is selling a fresh D60 and 14 bolt with new 4.56's, lockers, new bearings, etc. for $2K. :xmas:

I know a guy who has 1-tons- detroit lockers and 4.56 gears... he wants $2K Canadian.... if I wasn't in the middle of restoring my vette, I'd hop on them like a fat kid on a red Smartie. It sucks when you have the money but it is needed to complete another project. Oh well I'd rather have the vette out again.

They arent worth anything. I tell you what, ill drive up and give you $200 for both axles, that will be a lot easier than trying to sell them.

:rotfl:

I gave $1800 for my 60/14 combo 3 years ago. They had zero miles on them from the factory with 456's and detriots at both ends.

I think I may be able to get a set of 404 Mogs for a pretty good price.
Mightjust get them and build them over time.

Anyone know what is need for a set straight out of a Unimog to make them usable?

I think I may start a new thread for this.
