I think im hearing the same echo in my head:D

why cant I just be some red neck and toss in a junker rockwell, booger weld the spiders to the carrier, use 12 inch blocks, booger weld up a track bar, some shocks off a nitro shocks off a mazda and have them chromed

gosh life would be so much better if I were in the 80's:D

Dude , you couldn't handle the 80's . We had Commodore 64's WITH NO HARD DRIVES , dot matrix printers , and compuserve

you forgot about the purchase price of the rockwells. i have seen them for around $750 and up for a front and 2-500 for a rear. at first rockwells seem to be a cheaper alternative to building a 60 but as you already pointed out the parts list and price grows quickly. i was going to go the rockwell route because i wanted to put rear steer on my k5 and get rid of my 60/14 b., but after doing like you did pricing out parts i realized that it wasn't gonna be as cheap as i thought it would be. i say if you have the money and time then do it. i ended up getting 2 front unimog 416's for my k5 after the pinion conversion and disk brake kit it will end up being a little cheaper than what it was going to cost me for the rockwells. good luck

what size tires are you looking to run? unless your going over 44's, built 60/14b shouldnt have a problem

You may want to look at this thread on brakes:

Stay with the rockwell hubs and bolt pattern. Just have the custom 20" rims made to the rockwell patern. These to items could save ALOT of money on the project.

Pick up the latest issure of FourWheeler. 6.2 CUCV Blazer with rockwells and 44's. 12 inch springs with hydraulic steering.

its definitely possible to spend mad cash on rockwells... but you can spend less than you do on a bling D60 too and in the end it will always be stronger and have lower gears. The Camo 60 is the shizzel... but it cost more than a Ouverson'd Rockwell and it isn't as strong. That pretty much says it all to me. With pinion brakes, a rockwell really isn't much heavier than a 60 either...
