I found a good deal on craigslist for $650 for both a D60 and 14BFF rear. 4.56 gears, all I really need is the rear since my truck already has a 1 ton front since I bought it.

Is there anything I should be specifically looking for to make sure I dont get ripped off? I just need to know anyones tricks or suggestions to see if its worth the time.....ideas?

Thanks in advance.

check for the ratio to be valid then make sure its a chevy d60 and then load it up and never look back.

also check to see its not a gov lok rear and that it is an open carrier or detroit.
pop the covers, if anything looks nasty make the price go down.

well, do you have some tips? im thinking its a steal too...but too good to be true. also would the weight of the two axles be ok in the back of my suburban?

the weight is not so much an issue as getting them in and out.

if its clean and not leaky its probably OK and not needing any major rehab.

Weight should be fine, just know that picking one of thes up can hurt your back so get help and be carefull. the dana 60 weighs close to 600 lbs. Be aware the combo your describing sounds like it might be CUCV axles. if thats the case the the 14 bolt will be 1 ton spring perch width and will have to be cut/moved to fit the 1/2 or 3/4 ton rear spring width

Got it. My rig currently has the 14bsf...but im looking at the diy4x and ord catalogs now. Im sure im gonna get some needed parts.
