So Cal.
Those come in handy when you need them. I need them now so I'm buying a cheap HFT pair, not willing to spend the money for a pair of Snap On ones that will be like a grand or some outragous price, for a rare use tool like that. 25% easter sunday off one single iten aswell. Just printed the coupon off their site.

Some people say vice grips are the greatest tool every invented. My vote is channel locks, Maybe working for a plumber makes me a little more one sided though :thumb:

thanks for the heads up. I've got something in mind to buy right now. :D

So HF only had a crappy 16' pair for 15.99. Did not want, want a bigger pair. Went to sears, Craftsman only had a 16' pair for 44.99. NO WAY IN HELL I WAS spending that much. Went to lowes, that had a pair of 16' Channel Lock pliers for 22.99. Better quality tool for only a few bucks more the HF SO thats what I got. It will do what I want them for I think. Was hoping for a 20'to 24' pair. Ohwell. Some other time IF I come across a pair i guess.

I want a 16 foot channel lock...2 person tool?

j/k

a must for a marine mechanic... shaft packings, etc...

My HF Channel Locks snapped at the handle, and almost broke my finger...
Just a word of warning....

Pot metal isn't exactly ideal for high pressure applications.
I shop at HF, and am not a "don't buy HF stuff" kinda guy.

I'm just letting you know that they break under pressure.
I bet some of you guys can put way more pressure on 'em, than I did... ;)

I bought the larger size from HF, for the same reasons you want to.

All my other pliers are are "Channel Lock" brand, but I wanted cheap ones.
I figured, since I would use them few, and far between; That it wouldn't matter.

When I went to lock down hard on a bolt, the upper handle snapped and smashed my finger.
Had I not been wearing mechanics gloves, I think I woulda popped my knuckle.

The Channel Lock worked as expected. Glad I didn't get any HF slip joint channel lock pairs. I safety wired my sons new grips on his dirt bike and I had to grab the safety plliers with the channel lock pliers to close them enough to slide the lock mechanism to twist the wires in place. Worked great.

I was going to say go to Lowes and get the Channel-Lock brand. They are still the best bang for the buck.

my dad spent some 30 odd years in construction and did just about everything from wood work to glass work so theres few construction tools we dont have if we can find em. It's suprisingly useful at times though. When i was installing my disc brakes on my 14BFF i needed to hold the axle stil and my dad came out with a pipe wrench with a 3-4' handle and probably a 8'' capacity or so. Safe to say that thing didnt spin a bit :haha:. On the other hand we got so much shet we're lucky to find half of it. Ups and downs i guess :dunno:

Yup we got a 48" pipe wrench at work. Sobs solid steel and heavy as fock haha. But it can turn some big ole pipe with out much effort (if you can get the damn thing on the pipe lol)
