Okay I just acquired a 84 m1008, which I am going to use the axles for my 75 blazer. Was also thinking of swaping out the brake system since I have it all there. I did a search and off the top I could not find a good tech thread with what all is involved. Mostly like a question answer thing, with no pics. So I will need the ps pump, and brake pedal, booster, and master cylinder. Is there anything else I need to take off or look for? Is this swap worth it? What is the main difference between the two systems, is the hydroboost that much better? Oh yes any tech info with pics is greatly appreciated.

Also hoses ... three, as I recall, different than the set on a non-hydroboost truck.

I also just acquired a one ton and would like to know advantages/disadvantages. Will it interfere with hydro assist steering???

It won't mess with with the steering, but I have been rethinking the whole thing. If the ps pump goes then it will affect your brakes as well as the steering. I am actually thinking I may just want to keep the two systems seperate. That way if steering goes I can stop and if brakes go I can steer.

the only thing it's going to do to the brakes is make them feel like the old school manual brakes, very stiff, hard to push pedal, but the brake are still very much there.

i towed my dually home with no engine, the brakes were awesome, just hard to push, like old non-power boosted brakes.

having the Hydroboost now in my dually i really like them, you won't be sorry with the conversion.
