Hey guys. I'm currently DDing my 88 crewcab truck and im looking to get something that will get more mpg but still be cool and fun to drive. I've never owned a car and I don't plan on it anytime soon. I found a dealer selling a 1985 CUCV m1009 blazer in the local paper.

They are asking $2,995. Its got 98k miles on it. They tell me it has no body damage but has a little surface rust around the wheel openings but no rust holes. I've owned several K-5s in the past but never a diesel. What should I look for? I know about all the areas to look for rust issues, but I'm more concerned about any diesel related things to look for. I will try and get a pic later tonight, thanks

Thanks for that link. Here's a picture of the truck:

Do a search through the diesel forum here. This question has been asked about a zillion times so there's a ton of good info already on checking over these trucks. Hell, I think I asked about it a while back.

As far as the M1009 side of the issue goes...check over any "civilian" mods done obviously. Seen some pretty hack stuff. Also, figure out if it's 24v or 12v starting system. Some conversions are also pretty scary while others are just fine.

$3K seems a bit high for a rusty truck.
