Going Topless

Here in one of the upcoming weekends Im taking my top off for the first time, Looks to me Like I just lose the back seat belts unless I get some lap belts to bolt up to the floor. Also do any of you guys haul a tarp around with ya on the off chance it rains?

Im thinking about throwing in some ratch straps and getting a good tarp. Any recomendations on size or brand.

Anyone every tryed a car cover?

When I ran my blazer topless I kept a car cover on it, that worked out pretty good, I think a tarp would be a good enough as well.

I throw a car cover on mine at night when I don't feel like zipping the soft top back up. Just to keep out the critters and dew. I've got vinyl seats and they can get mighty damp with a good dew.

I don't keep a tarp with me, but with if need be I could always throw it back up.

The size of the tarp is set by the size of the opening (obviously). I grabbed a 10X14 ft tarp for my '74 K5, with the full convertible top, it works well I just use bunge cords to hold it down. Its not 100% sealed but it does cover the vitals and it works better if I remember to roll the windows up first. If you have a newer blazer/jimmy with only a half top a 10X10 should cover. A word of warning, I'm from Saskatchewan, Canada and its a little windy here some days (60mph is average sometimes), the tighter you have it the better so invest in some good tie off points.

I owned my last Tracker just over 3 years and NEVER took the soft top off. Too much work and I was always afraid it would start to rain. Never thought about the cover. Then again I guess if it starts raining while you're driving you just get wet.

I keep a tarp in my '72's tool box. I really only have/use it in case the blazerhas to stay some place overnight for whatever reason or if I am on a multiday wheeling trip. My baby sleeps in the garage at night and is a weekend driver that only goes out on nice days. My tarp is 8X10 but a 12X10 would be a bit better coverage wise. Keep in mind that a 10X12 tarp is the size it was before the tarp was before it was cut and folded for the grommets. Will probably measure 6-8" shorter on each side as a finished tarp.

Keep my Trap under the Passenger seat just a 10x12 all I care about is my Tool bag back seat and front seat. So it works.

when i first got my blazer it didnt have a top.i used a deuce cargo tarp and bungee cords to hold it down to keep it dry inside.

ha, i ran mine for no telling how long without any top at all....plan to keep doing so after i do the herc. I'll figure out some type of bikini top evenutally, i guess I'm even gonna do neoprene seat covers and marine stereo stuff so I can just wash out the interior. I think a stretch car cover would take a little longer to get on than a tarp, but would definitely do a better job.
