I found a guy locally scraping a 74 K5. I was looking for a few misc parts and he told me I could have the cap, doors and windshield frame and all other hardware for $200. So I guess I have to add a rollcage asap for strength if I plan on going that route. Any ideas? besides a cage, and do I want to attach the cage to the windshield frame somewhere to help support it?

Cool! Check out my build thread to see pics of what I've done o my '73. Full cage, sliders, etc. To attach to the windshield frame, you could build tabs into the frame that have bolt holes which line up to the holes in the frame for the hard top. that does prevent you from using the hard top tho... i only have a soft top. you could probably find a way to still use the hard top with that point tho with a bit of critical thinking.
