Hello 400/twin-sticked/fixed yoke 205.

I know I know.....Im thinking of a black box, or somethin. I will not go doubler.Bye bye deep enough gears
You'll want deeper t-case gears of some kind soon enough
I can certainly understand the strength upgrade though.

Black box is shorter/smaller with a 241 planetary right? Why is that?
And what's the distinction between a black box and a doubler?

I will just have to see what the future holds....Im just happy to have a stronger set up with a twinstick. And all freshly rebuilt. Not really shorter or smaller, but yes it's a 241 planetary set in an aluminum housing.

I would have stayed with 700/241, but I got this new set up for free.I will say this, I love having the Atlas 4spd. Even without having my cutting brakes hooked up it's a blast to be able to make turns that little Jeeps have to back up on. I went to a 400/205 on my first K5 and hated it, then I drove a friends rig with a Doubler and it was better but I didn't want the length and weight. The Atlas was the only choise outside of the Stak and I am not impressed with the Stak. Like mentioned you will want more low range.

Nice choice. I have a 400 sitting in the garage and have been doing quite a bit of research on what setup to go with behind it and I'm sold on a 205/BB. Small, light, lower gearing and not really a big price difference between it and a doubler.
Its not cheaper. Why not do the 241 doubler, same thing as the Black Box but a whole lot less price wise.
