truck looks great! glad you got a chance to get it outside. :)

Im ready to start putting a lift and 3/4tons on my blazer but need some advice. Im looking to put a total of 6 inchs of lift. My plan is 6" ez rides tuff country springs, 56" rear springs, shackle fliped with 6" hd cross tied shackles, and ez inch (I hope the rear works out) Sounds pretty straight forward...

When I had my other k5 I bought some diy4x b-52s for the front to make it more of an off road rig, but with this one I want more of a daily driver/family camping rig with the best ride I can make it. So should I use the b-52s? would longer springs up front make a better ride?!

I dont know why this hole shackle flip and longer spring thing are so confusing to me! :dunno:

I asked the guy at ORD the other day about this. He said that with using the later 56" leafs from a later model would need to be 2" taller to get the required lift. So if you wanted 6" you would need 4" lift springs and the 4" shackle flip kit. So shackle flip+4" lift in the rear+higher mounts=6" lift in the rear. I hope that makes sense. I'm knew at this too so this might be blind leading the blind. Oh from what I've read on here. I would use the b52 hangers and just buy 2" lift springs from tuff country. I've read that the taller the lift springs the stiffer they are. Hope this helps.

If it were me, I would just get 6" front lift springs. ORD can set a very nice riding set if factory length lift springs but they are more expensive than standard lift springs.

If you were to try and run 52's you would need to get 2" lift springs to net 6" of lift. 52" lift springs are expensive.

If you want a stable ride with 52" front springs you need a good set of shocks. If you aren't spending $100/shock, they aren't 'good'.

I'm speaking from my experience with my K5 I have owned 12yrs. Went from factory suspension thru 2.5" lift springs to 52's in the front. Thing I noticed with the good shocks I ran is they wore out faster in the front and I think this may have been due to working harder with 52" springs. Luckily they are rebuildable so making them 'new' again only costs $35.

In the rear you're probably going to need lift springs. Although you might get close with factory springs. A typical 4" shackle flip uses a factory 4" shackle. So if you went to a 6" shackle you'd gain 1" of lift. This is because changing only 1/2 the spring gives you half the lift. Then you could add a 1" zero rate which is like a lift block but better because it's solid steel and bolts to the spring pack. Also some people like to use the zero rate because you can use it to move the axle back or forward 1". Shackle flips tend to push the axle forward in the fender opening so people use the zero rate to move it back. All that would net 6" on paper but in practice I can see it coming up a little short. Compared to 6" lift springs.

In my K5 I ran 56" rear springs with 2.5" ORD flip, 6" shackle, 1" zero rate to equal out the 52's in the front which most feel give 4" of lift. On paper my rear set up should have netted 4.5" I feel it was pretty close to making the truck perfectly level.
