Ok here's the deal. I found a 82 K20 6.2 Diesel today.
#1 Front end should be a Dana 44 correct?....I don't know what else came under these trucks. I know the rear is a 14bff.
#2 Stamped on the ring gear is 41,10 I interrpret this as 4.10 gears correct??
#3 If its a Dana 44 then it has the (good) internal hubs with a snap ring right..??
#4 If I read in my searches correctly I can use my 10b calipers and lockouts right??
Anyway I hope this is all correct the guy only wants $100 for front and rear. I just bought a 14bff last week for $75 so I'll have a 14bff for sale soon in Reno area. Thanks everyone/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

If it's an 82 and nothing has been swapped out, it will be a 10 bolt.

Yep, I just put one in my truck from an '83. And yes you can use the calipers and lockouts.

Any more input?? Especially on the 41 and 10 stamped on the ring gear. The axle is missing hubs so I can't do the rotate the tire and count the revolutions of the driveshaft.

41 is # of ring geear teeth. 10 is # of pinion gear teeth. Divide the two, and your ratio is 4.10.

Cool thanks..Still don't understand why a 10 bolt is the front axle under a 3/4 ton with a diesel. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Guess I was really just hoping it would be a Dana 44

Why, they are almost exactly the same strength. They both use the 297x ujoint that tends to be the weak point in the front axle. I would trust a 10 bolt as much as a D44 anyday. I run an 8 lug 10 bolt myself. If the D44 was any stronger I would have put one in instead when I swapped the front axles.

Cool thanks everyone. I just got home from work on my way to go get the axles. $100 can't pass this up. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Yep its a 10 bolt. LOL It is sitting in my gagrage getting ready to be rebuilt. If anybody wants the rear its an 8 lug 14bsf. NW Nevada let me know if you're close.
