I have a chance to pick up a D44 and 12 bolt with 3.08's complete hub to hub with flat top knuckles. The D44 is welded and both shafts are busted, but it has warn premium lock outs, and flat top knuckles. The 12 bolt is in good shape and has no problems. I can get both of these for $100. I figure I can try to sell all the parts I don't want or need to regain some of the cash. The guy I'm getting these from has had his K5 for about 1 1/2 years, and just lifted it about 9 months ago. It had 31's on it when he bought it and he's been running 35's with a heavy foot this summer. When the front shafts broke I was there and they both had rusted U-joints. He upgraded to a 14bff and D44 with 4.10's.

I think it's a good deal, but I want some 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc. opinions. :D

definitely buy them! for flat tops thats a great deal. do it! put the flat tops on ur 44 and get x-over ;)

That's what part of the plan was. I am going to keep the knuckles, lock outs and rear shafts for spares, then see what else I want then sell the rest. :D

If yer buyin for the knuckels make sure its a 76 or older, after that they changed to standard knuckels. The warn premiums are almost worth $100, and you can never have to many spare parts. :wink1:

It's out of a '75 or '76, I can never remember which, but it's got the full convertible top. Here's a pic of the K5 they were in:

The owner is holding them for me. There will be a list of the extra parts for sale in about a month or so. :D

when u buy the crossover kit

dont the kit come with the knuckle machined and ready for the arm to bolt on? or is there a core you have to send in....just wondering i have about 3 sets that have the flat top knuckles and i was thinking about getting them out of my shop....should i just put them outside with some tin over them?

You can buy the kit with Knuckles, But I had my knuckles machined locally. I just got the arm from ORD. When I talked to them, I had some extra knuckles. He was willing to buy them from me.
