Kick a$$ MF. Just got the spring perches in and I almost had to sit down and start crying. These are like the baddest dam things I've ever seen.
You Rock man!!!! Thanks a million. Now I have to sit here and stare at them till Tuesday when my driveshaft gets here!!!

Do you think they're heavy duty enough??

I'm glad to hear they made it there by today or I would have had to kick some Canada post butt!

Awn man, they're kick ass. Sorry for the cussing but I cant help myself. You need to be selling these bad boys to everyone with 14 bolts. Im getting ready to go put the rear end back in loosly till I get hte driveshaft in so I can get the angles right.
I love how you even beveled the edges so my welding101 ass can get better penetration.
I was looking at the welds you made. They dont even look like you had any spatter, the bead was smooth as a babies ass and I just cant get over how massively bass they look. I took some pics, but I forgot I cant upload to my website from the house. Im telling you....sell sell sell. Nobody sells 14 bolt perches that I could find...ESPECIALLY not like these!!!!!!

Rene is a kick-arse metal fabricator..
I need to talk to him about making me up one of those front bumper's..
wink.gif
..
Serious Rene.. I want to see if you can make me one for my 83 Blazer... Your front bumper rocks !!!

I haven't failed, I've found 10,000 ways that don't work. www.rocko.rockcrawler.com

I want to see them, I may want a set!

'85 K5 : Run it til it breaks, then fix it and go again!

Look just like the SEC style bumper's.. And he even added the D-ring's and hi-lift jack to his...
I thought they were aftermarket at first til he told me he made them..
Even the rear bumper was impressive.. swing out rear tire carrier..
And the towbar he made.. damn .. look's better than any store bought one's..

Thanks for the kind words Brandon!

'Spatter block' is some real good stuff

I'm not too sure these things are gonna be a production item of any sort. I did these as a favor. I don't have my own shop so anything I do tends to be on my breaks at work etc.
The machinist was having a slow night so for the hell of it I had him run the perches through the milling machine. Go ahead and grab yer calipers...those perches are within .005" tolerance to each other.

I'd like to see some pics of them. Man they sound SWEET! I hope someday I can be able to fabricate stuff even half as good as some of the gys on here, Rene especially.

Ok, here by popular demand here are the pics. Sorry they will take a sec to download. I dont have my photo editor here to speed things up.

Just saw the pics and all I can say is...that is the prettiest looking work I've ever seen!! Rene, you are definitely an over-acheiver and king of the coffee generation!

Hey!!! Where's mine?!?! I want some, too!!!

I gotta have some to use for paper weight!!!

Seriously, could you make some more? How about for the taller perches on the 1 ton rears? I would like some 1" taller than the stock 1 ton perch.

Think you could do this? If so, PM me and a price quote, too.

Hey, those ARE pretty cool..

ya know I dont think I ever heard of anyone actually moving spring perches before a few posts on this website..

a few questions, if you dont mind-- first of all how do you figure out how much to move them? with degree shims? and second of all, once you grind the old ones off, how do you find, say, 6 degrees away from the old ones and how do you get em lined up perfect and stuff?

but seriously you need to start making those things, if not at least about a dozen for everybody who wants em.. materials shouldnt be too expensive, right? looks like labor might be considerable though.. but I think you could definately recoop costs and make a buck or two...

Them things are so purty, it's a shame to put them under the truck

!! You should use them as hood ornaments or something!!

I never came up with a price for these, I built them as a favor for Brandon...
I did these at work while I was supposed to be doing my real job...

I really had no intentions of building more than one set. It would be different if I had my own shop, but my boss can be a dickhead about personal projects...

Nice job Rene!

We wouldn't want to get you fired over little spring perches. Maybe someone can use the pics to make their own?

It's been lovely, but I have to scream now.
