On the way to look at another truck today, I noticed this Scout II peering out from behind an old shack. I left a note with a neighbor but didn't exactly contact the owner. I have a few leads on how to find the owner.

I don't know IH's that well, but from what I recall they were built like tractors, but the bodies rusted off 20 minutes after they left the lot. So they all died. This one is not only solid, the interior is awesome!!!

Don't know any more than the pics show. Motor/trans/runs/doesn't etc. Didn't want to get shot for nosing around too much! Snapped pics and ran!!!

So anybody know a good IH discussion board where I could get some info/interest on this? I'd love to have it to wheel in myself, but right now I need to turn around some vehicles/parts to make some money. I'm hungry. Really hungry.

$0 to $100

Scouts are not in very high demand and it will have lots of rust

Parting it out will be time consuming and a PITA

WHAT!?!? Scouts are getting more and more popular, Their hard to come buy and have good drive trains for the most, their not cheap here in Cali. Fully boxed frames from factory, easy to do swaps in. The one pictured look rusty as hell though. I miss my 73' Scout II.

i still have Scout parts for my 73'. Just incase I ever get another one.

WHAT!?!? Just my opinion Scouts are getting more and more popular,Not around here Their hard to come buy Cause they have rusted away and have good drive trains Drum braked D30? Slant 4? Jeep 6? for the most , their not cheap here in Cali. Fully boxed frames from factory Yes, easy to do swaps in Yes. The one pictured look rusty as hell though. I miss my 73' Scout II.

I also used to own a 73 SII, 67 800, 73 1110 (+1 travelall for parts), 56 s120 (+1 57 s120 for parts) And currently own a 73 1210

I had a 76 for a while and my plans were to tube it out and run the 345 or 396 and leave the axles D44 f&r, and just play with it. binderbulletin.org is the best site for em too. Get it and tube it out, they make reasonably cheap buggies.

actually they start rusting while they were being built. The price of scouts vary widly it seems around here if that ran it would probably get about a grand out of it. They are great trucks IMHO but I would be prepared to do lots of body work if you want a nice one

that missing gas cap would be a big concern to me. Otherwise it doesnt look too bad. IH are about as common as an english speaking illegal around here. Ya jus dont see em. So no one really wants them.

OK... somebody make me an offer!!! If I had the cash, I'd buy it and push it back in the weeds until I had money to build it... but right now I need... groceries!!!

So I don't want to spend a bunch of time and money tracking down the owner, trailering it home, purchase price, title transfer, etc., unless I can turn it for a few bucks. :sigh:
