I have a 1985 K5 with a 350 that is getting a new engine and just wanted to know what was a good cam to put in it. What brand, duration, where I can find one ect... Its driven 80% off road and 20% on pavement. I'm not looking to build any kind of hot rod it has stock heads, headers, flowmasters, and a holley off road carb.

Comp 268H is a decent cam.

[/ QUOTE ] I agree. Call Comp Cams and tell them what you got, what you use it for and what you want. They can tell you what cam is best suited for your needs. I'd be willing too bet that the 268H will be pretty close.

i'd love to tell you how the Summit 1104 does, but i can't because my engine won't run. . . lovely eh?

I hear the 268HE and 268XE are great though.

If you got nationwide coverage on a cell phone or you just dont care call 386-258-6174 crane cams tech line, they will give you the best cam for the specs you tell them. Getting a cam that is to big or wild will make your truck run even worse, bigger is not always better.

Single pattern cams really are old technology for the street in this day and age.

I ran the smallest Xtreme 4x4 in my truck in the past and it worked VERY well.

Works "well" and "is ideal" are two totally different things.

That same cam installed in a 350 would have very drastically different characteristics anyway.
