I dont know much about the difference in 2 1/2 tons. I just figured they were all rockwell based Probly still stronger than a 60/14b. The wheels have to go too
marginally, they also have drum brakes and there not toploaders so really all your gaining is the low ratio. these axles predated the 2.5 rockwells so think post WW2 to mid korean conflict .
parts are still out there but , but there is ZERO aftermarket support .
