I currently had a kenwood truck box bandpass 10" and a 200 watt kenwood amp. Sub died but still have amp. I would like alot more bass though, not panell rattling bass but nice deep solid bass. this is for my reg cab 97 dodge pickup. Any suggestions. Do I need a bigger amp too?

definatly stay 10 inch for that cummins, i really cant suggest a sub, but id look for one that requires a smaller amount of space for a box. And definatly get a bigger amp. I am currently running 600 (peak) to my JL 12 inch and it could probably use more. I had a 10 inch in my 85 and i still had to have the seat pushed pretty far forward. I remember a while back there being some nice subs with a somewhat shallow mounting depth. I;ll have to look back into it

thats what im putting behind the seat in my truck. I have to have the seat pushed all the way forward though, should sound pretty good though.

Picked it up off ebay from a circut city store for 20 bucks :eek1:

also if you want a bit more, which was what I was going to do but got such a good deal on the above one.

you can get both off ebay for less then 100 bucks.

I have a 10" Alpine Type-E sub for sale that is used I could give you a deal on, it hits great but i am taking top and doors off and dont want it stolen. Let me know if your interested.

I run two 12" Pioneer Subs in my standard cab '85 pickup and they do really well. I have an 800w peak two channel Kenwood amp that sends 185rms to each sub and its perfect.

Here's the thing, in a standard cab you really have no good way of putting a full depth sub (like I run) in a standard cab and still be able to have space for excursion. When my seat is folded forward my system is about 2-3x louder than when my seat is back...

I told ya' this to say...either go with a good quality 12" sub or two middle of the road subs (like me) OR go with a shallow mount sub that allows you to keep your seat 1-2" away from the subs b/c they'll sound a lot better.

cool thanks for the tips. Now what about ohm and dual and quad voice coils etc. I have run subs alot in the past and the ones I had died but those were just always thrown together systems and they worked ok but I wanna do it a little better this time.

What specific questions do you have?

Do you have a bench or buckets?

Would you consider a blow-thru? :D

An array of 8's would be sweet. And they would be easier to fit than a single larger sub like a 12.

Avery, for future reference, peak power ratings mean squat (basically), only consider RMS power ratings (on amps and speakers).

well ended up getting a pair of element design 9kv.2s
