Hi everyone, new guy here, so far I've been impressed by the wealth of knowledge on this site. Here's my situation:

I have an 85 K5 with a Goodwrench replacement engine. Then engine is low mileage (20K) but the vehicle is not so solid in other respects.

I also have an 88 suburban that is excellent except for a knocking motor. I have read on here about swapping carbed motors and the need for adapter plates or manifold modifications, Are there any other issues that need to be addressed? The Goodwrench motor seems like a fairly mild stock replacement, so hopefully no cam compatiblity issues.

My question is, is this going to be more trouble than its worth, and would I be better off finding a good used motor, or is this a viable option?

Thanks!

A bird in the hand.... You own the parts to make the repair. Get a carb to tbi adapter and go for it.

If the cam is off you can put a new on in it later.
