Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac

have a set at work i put on the storage shelf today. 33x12.50x15 look good and i kind of like the tread. but when i grabed them the side walls felt like toilet paper. super thin and nothing like the older mt/r durawall stuff with kevlar.

if a highway/mall cruiser mabye yes but real off road to thin for my blood.

Thats ironic that you should say that. The article in 4wheeler says that these new tires are suppose to fix the apparently thing sidewalls of the past MTRs. That dont make much sense to me since i thought they were always praised for their damn tough sidewall:confused: Then again we all know those mags say whatever their sponsors want them too....

i can flop around those side walls like a sheet of paper when i grab the tire.

not like a real truck tire sidewall if you ask me. i have seen cheeper tires with 2x the sidewall stiffness.

Good to hear. Now I can confirm I'll never buy them for another reaosn other than the tread looks like crap.

A jeep had them when i went to rausch creek and he had no problems with them. not sure how much he aired down but tires worked well for him and he had no complaints.

I ran these this winter on my plow truck.. I don't plow just city streets. I have 28 Miles of Mtn Roads that I maintain. Usually run into drifts up to the hood.

They are the best tires I have ever run. Period. Last year I had to chain up almost all year just to get to the top of our subdivision.

I only had to chain up once this year and it was during spring thaw and the road to this guys house was never broke through all winter.

Some of the driveways I plow are up hill and very steep. Again with no chains I was even able to plow going up hill.

Wish they came in 36" so I could run then on my trail rig.

Just a great feeling of traction all winter.

i just ran across these tires on a web search....good to hear the positive experiences. they seem like they'd fit the bill for what I need.........

I was looking at these a few months back for the GF's super duty until I read the reviews at tire rack. Lots of people complaining about the thin sidewalls and enough tread squirm that they felt unsafe.

It was enough to make me think twice so I ended up getting her a set of the Michelin Dueler A/T Revo 2's which IMO was a wise decision. The Duelers were only $15 more per tire and so far they have performed impressively. We'll see for sure once the snow hits but the next time I'm in the market tires I'm fairly certain I'll be getting another set of them. They aren't as aggressive as the Duratracs but honestly if I was in the market for an M/T I'd be looking further to the other end of the spectrum.

I have a set on my 2500, and like em real well. However the sidewall isn't as stiff as I would like for a 10ply. The traction, ride quality are both verygood IMO. they make a little noise though on the road. I've used them in ~4" mud, sand, and wet pavement, and think they perform real well. I have about 6K on them now, and am anxious to try them in the snow/slush/ice.
