I'm getting ready to change my pinion seal on my 14 Bolt, got a new nut for the yoke also.

When I pull the pinion seal out can I remove the crush washer through the gap that will be around the pinion gear or does the awhile shabang have to come out?

Was thinking of pulling the crush washer, mic'ing it then replacing it with one of those solid ones that uses shims.

that is how you start the setup thickness of a solid shim kit for them .

and yes it will come out once the seal and outer bearing are out .

dont forget 14ff yoke is press fit on the spline.

When you say press fit, you mean it was set with a press??

I've removed the yoke off of my Dana 60 before to replace it and I know it's seated on the splines pretty good. The 14 bolt is the same way or?

you can pop the 60 yoke off the splines by hand .

14ff is TIGHT and you need a press to do it safe and no possible damage . or a puller that will work to get it off can be done . its not a slide it off by hand job .

**** my life...

So you pretty much have to pull the gears out and removed the pinion support with everything and press it off?

I've got some 3 jaw pullers in the garage.

nope . just bolt here back in .

nice part about this style of axle .

and clean and reuse the metal shim that goes between the pinion support and axle housing . this is your pinion depth shim .

here is a step by step on setting up a 14ff also . http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista/PR-ARB/articles/14b_Gear_Setup/

skim threw this for the pics and you will get the idea on how easy it can be .
