Went out on a shakedown run yesterday. Got a bit carried away, but everything works decent. Cept for the winch, which has crapped out again...

No wheeling pics, I'll get those as the weekend wears on.

Here's a poser pic; I should have some decent wheeling pics tomorrow.

Great truck and great picture!

No offense, but I thought warn was supposed to be the do all end all, especially that model. What went wrong?

Probably didn't have any Grade 12 bolts to hold it down.

How can you do any wheelin' with 200' of 1" cable hanging off the front of you rig? /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif

Seriously, it looks like you had a good time.

...now where are the action shots?

Re: Got a headstart on the long weekend wheeling.

It would appear the solenoids have failed the test of time. I haven't done any troubleshooting into this matter though, but that's my guess. Not a tough fix, just one that I haven't looked at yet. Everybody else has a 12,000 warn on their rigs, and mine's on the way. I'll eventually relegate this winch to rear service in the future.

That 150' of 1/2" cable is the difference between dry solid ground and swamp a lot of times. Usually the guys pulling me out get stuck in the process, so it makes it a waste of time. I don't recall, but I beleive it's good for 40,000lbs too.

I run about 80' of 1-1/2" powerbraided rope for boing rope when using that would be easier than a winch.

Spent today working on it, wheeling all day tomorrow and Sunday.

Later,
Chad.

Hmmm I didn;t notice the cable was reeled in....

So is it pretty easy to pack around extra wire rope? I'm not too into mud these days but anchor points are few and far away here.....

went tire wheeling right off the bat, kept all 4 firmly planted..

4 trucks with 44" boggers, 1 truck with 40"s all bone ass stock chevy's, all except mine with 454's
post-18-1085279774.jpg

Then, I drove across this beaver pond... Everybody else wussed out and squeak didn't make it across. Resulted in an hour of winching.

Then, because my buddy squeak got stuck in his pickup with 44" boggers and a big block on BBQ and my other buddy colin pulled him out with his double steering big block chev the other guys got scared and I drove back across in mine and sqeaks tracks... On the SECOND, DEEPER beaver pond.

Which led to squeak miracoulously driving back and pulling me out backwards after my wimpy 350 sucked about 349ci of water

which led to this high water mark picture

And then, after multiple breakdowns in the group we got a picture of me and colin messing around at the end. After driving up, backing up and 2wd full throttle reversing it up I came back down and slid sideways and the truck balanced for a brief second on the pass side front tire until I nutted it and managed to drive out of a roll. I wish I had THAT on video... maybe next time... Sure won't be tomorrow, there's one bolt on my truck holding the steering box on.

Looks fun! What was there all for carnage?

A few 1410 u-joints, a few cv's, a lot of body work, a starter, a few accessory belts and a Dana 60 detroit.

On my truck, I seriously hacked up the fenders with the boggers and tore up a bogger pretty good, ripped the frame up pretty good around the steering box. Also sucked in enough water to kill it twice, flooded the cab so deep the water was above the seats and probably displaced all the oils with beaver water.

Looks like the double shackle everyone was giving you a hard time about worked pretty well.

That is some deep mud/water, my head probley would have been underwater... /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif
