Their isn't a problem with the tranny, but it's gearing was changed in 2002 for better performance. My friend has a 2002 and you can feel the difference. I just ordered a Curtis Sparks pipe for mine and the next purchase will be extended A-arms and axle.

Not to sound rude or like a dick, but this thread should be in the 'non 4x4 forum'.

BTW, my buddy who owns the big blue Ford shown on my webshots.com site has a Raptor too.

Know anybody that wants to buy one? I got a friend who has a 01 that is in perfect condition. He bought a heep so he has to sell the Raptor.

rode one before...it was the first year model (2001?), and it was pretty damn fast...i didnt have the balls to jump it at anything over 2nd gear...the only probs w/the first one was the reverse gear....think of starting your k5 out in about 4th gear and that's what the reverse gear was like, odther than that it was FAST and it would pop the front wheels up in the air in 5th gear!!!

Ahh yes, I can't wait to get back to Glamis to again spank the raptors and banshees with my ancient (1988) Quadzilla (Suzuki LT500). Just a fat-old man without all the fancy riding gears beating them young-uns on their $6000+ "mow-sheens". HURRY AND GET HERE XMAS VACATION!!!

Hey Ken...be careful out there at Glamis....I heard Thanksgiving was wilder than ever!

The only problem with reverse is that the rev-limiter doesn't kick in until 12mph. Yeeeeooowwww, be careful in reverse.

The 2002 models don't have that problem.

yea...and you can't have the clutch all the way out goin less than 12 MPH!!!! that's the scary part!!! talk about 'ridin tha clutch'...

Mike Dee

The HP is fun in the sand, and controllable...but if you want some real fun try riding my KX500 up a rocky ravine! My clutch hand gets tired just thinking about it.
