Ok guys, I got me a new truck, a 95 half ton Dodge, ext. cab, short bed 4wd, 360, with 77,000 miles

The truck belonged to my uncle, who ordered it new, it really is like a brand new truck, everything works, but two things, the driver's side window won't roll down and the radio doesn't work.

First, the radio, it is the factory tape-deck radio.
It lights up when the truck's lights are on, but no clock, sometimes the very top piece of the third digit will light up, but only after a while, and if I try to turn it on. I have tried two other radios, but no luck, they do absolutely nothing. One of the other radios I tried is the one out of my Cummins, and identical tape-deck, and one I had in my garage, an aftermarket CD player radio. Also, neither the lighter or the accessory plugin have power, if that is all on the same circuit.

Next, the Window
The switch does nothing to the window, no noises or anything. the window does not want to move, the gears are good, it wont let me pull it down. I put a different switch in it and no change, could the motor be burnt out?

If the radio has a solid power source and a good ground, it should work. If you're getting partial function, maybe check the ground circuit or another different radio.

I'd check the window switch before anything else. There's several ways to check - you can check for continuity on the terminals as you cycle the switch, you can jumper the power wires (bypassing the switch) to see if the window motor works.

Before all of this, I'd make sure all your fuses are good. If you find one burnt and replace it, try to cycle everything again and then recheck the the fuses. If it's burned again, you've got an overload or a short on that circuit.

this is gonna sound like a Pirate response, and I'm sorry for that... BUT...

why are you asking for Dodge help on a Chevy site?

I had considered it, but since they're generic electrical questions, we'll allow it. :deal:

He could've just said it was a GMC Somethinorother to retain his dignity though. Besides, we all know the answers that would come on the Dodge Forum:

"Put some racing stripes and truck nutz on it to fix the window, and put some exhaust stacks in the bed to give you something to listen to since your radio no workie"

Those Chrysler radios have a habit of crapping out in odd ways. Same with their speakers. I'd toss a used unit in or grab a Wal-Mart pioneer head unit and the associated installation parts. should run you LESS than $150.

As for window, I say start with switch or look between door and truck at the wires in the boot for breakage.

The fuses are all good, under dash and under hood, also the inline fuse for the radio is good, I even replaced it for the hell of it, no change.

I think the window motor is shot, I got another one, but I think I'll leave it for next year.

Although for the radio, I am thinking about just going out and buying a new one, and going from there.
