No motor, and lost title, but it's a 1962 Chevy 1/2 ton 2wd longbed. It was on Craigslist this morning for free, so I went and snagged it.

Body is pretty much toast except for the hood, tailgate and grill. But now the latest idea is throw this '62 body on the Swamp Thing Junior frame and a have a '62 Chevy mudder truck instead of a bodyless frame with cab.

Looks alright. Nice score for free.

Just curious, how do you know the guy you picked it up from actually owned it if he has no title? Isn't there risk that it is stolen?

did you get a receipt. If you did then its on him if its stolen. If there were large ruts in his yard/driveway where it sat then you know its not stolen cause it hasn't moved for quite some time.:D

That body actually looks pretty good, not too rusty, and minimal dents.
Nice score!

I wasn't saying it was, just curious how you handle that situation. I figure if anyone knows how to handle it, it would be you!

Usually I wont take stuff without titles, unless I hear a believable story from a person that doesn't seem like a shady character. And I always do make a bill of sale... except you caught me there. Today I just wasn't thinking and took off without writing something up. That was my fault. I thought about that when I got home.

The body isn't all that great. Cab has rust, and fenders have rust, and one bedside is dented. The tailgate is near perfect. I think I have the tailgate, rear view mirror, and rear axle sold off it, and I'll just keep the rest of the body to use as a mud rig.

Oh, on Swamp Thing Junior, the small block headers don't work the normal way. Don't know why, but the drivers side header hits the oil filter when mounted the way they are supposed to be. So we just reversed them. When/if the '62 body goes onto that frame, we'll just have to get a different set of headers.

i was wondering that is about the strangest thing ive ever seen...that makes want to make a new post...

If i remember correctly, Alan let some kids build that truck with parts he had around. He was making sure they were being safe, but besides that he let them do what they wanted.

Thats why it looks kinda goofy.

Why can't I find something like that for free??? Not that it matters, but it's a 63, or at least a 63 grill.

63 was the last year of wrap around windshield. they had those 60 to 63, and then the non wrap around 64-66. Mine has a 65 cab, I like those better, the wrap around's doors are knee knockers as you will notice on yours.
