I really want to mount my new autometer gauges on my pillar but their are none made for k5s that i know of? does anyone have a solution that they have worked out themselves or modified another make and models pillar mount to their k5? pictures and any other ideas would be awesome thanks guys!

its not a pod but i drilled holes in my dash on the pass side came out cool and both driver and pass can watch tem nice when you are wheeling.

have you ever fabricated somethin like this before? is it simple enough for anyone too do?

glass pillar pod, simple? ummm, no... most newbies run into various issues on glasswork... imo, you'd be better off trimming and modding another vehicle specifac one that is close...

Yip, to do your own takes patience and trial and error and is usually pretty messy.

I dont know if this is an option for you, but here is what I did. Its from autometer and it fits Mustang GT. Its a dash pod I got from summit.

The bottom front edges are curved, some light sanding and its flat and fits very well. I like it. :D

No holes were drilled, there was speaker holes already in the dash, I just ran the wires and bracket screw thru the holes. worked out great.

I like that man maybe ill go that route, i was really hopin to pillar mount these suckers but the pillars on our k5s are whimpy as hell and they got nothin to really work with.

I think Jegs sells one for older Trucks that might fit..I don't know how close trucks are to a K5.

I think they carry a universal pilar pod mount have not seen anyone try ti though.
I dont know why its so hard to get parts like this for these trucks they are everywhere and it seems people are looking for the parts with no support.

Well, there's lots of people HERE looking for parts for these trucks, but then we're all 73-87 Chebby people here.

You know how many pimply-faced dorks there are out there wanting to pimp out their Honda? That's why they sell, and the parts for thirty-year old trucks ... don't get made. :deal:

Sucks, but hey, we get good at the DIY thing.

73 -91 in the subs and 4 doors the market is huge i bet that it was the most produced truck ever. anyone got the numbers

The closest one is Auto meter #15210 which is for a 1988 to 1998 Jeep cherokee. It holds 2 gages. I don't have it installed yet cause I have to paint it. I made up a 3 gage pod out of foam and am going to cover it with fiberglass and haven't figured out how to make a mold so I could make more and sell them. I'll take a pic of it tomorrow and let you guys see it.
Tarey

And a about a month ago I called Auto meter and asked them why they don't make one for our chevys. The guy said it obstructed too much of the view out of the front window there.
