im down in louisiana doing clean up on a pipeline and last thursday was a long day 5:30-9:30 well i was leaving the line in my 08 dodge 3500 dually with a 40ft flat bed and a back hoe on it.
got about 5 mins down the windy road and as i came around a blind corner into an intersection there was a pickup sitting in the intersection
i was doing about 35-40 and there was no way i was gonna stop in time i hit the brakes and as i was sliding toward him i tried to go to the right of him. as i hit the intersection i was prob down to 15mph and i turned hard right to try and make the turn i hear crashing and banging and i was a rocking but i had came to a stop before the front of the truck ran off the road into the ditch.
i get out expecting the trailer and back hoe to be on its side or worse the guys truck is smashed. what do i see... the trailer is upright and the back hoe hasent moved
but i see speeding away tail lights of the truck i just about hit 
all in all what happened was i made the turn with the truck but as any trailer guy knows the trailer doesnt follow your wheel tracks and since i had turn on the right side of my road that meant i was gonna send my trailer into the ditch to follow.
well i must have been going faster than i thought when i hit the ditch or had enough momentum cause the trailer tires cleared the ditch and landed just on the embankment of the ditch. hit with enough force to take the driver side front axle and bend the spindle upward(12k axles) bent the **** out of the rims on that axle blew both tires and broke the leaf springs.
the rest of the trailer was fine and the back hoe stayed boomered down which i cant belive.
i got lucky only about 3k in damage im thinking when it could have been worse. now whoever the mother ****er in the crew cab silver f150 is i hope he turns himself in.
