Finally-finally-finally...got fuel injection. :woot:

Finishing up the installation of my 383 stroker motor.
The biggest benefit other than the TBI will be the serpentine belt assembly, what a difference, really cleans thing's up and makes things way easier for belt stock.

Two choices left in the fuel delivery area though...
*Either go with an in-tank pump that will install in a poly tank I already have. (cheapest route)
*Or do a fuel cell, which if I can swing it cash wise, will happen.

Other upgrades this swap will include are:
*Remote cooler for the ram assist steering
*Remote engine oil cooler (using the factory one from the '90 donor truck)
*Tranny torsion rods (bars from motor mounts to tranny cover)

Tbi

Wait until you drive it. It's a night and day difference with TBI. And starts on the first crank everytime. I went with the fuel cell and a Howe electric fuel pump and it works great.

Yeah, really looking forward to it.
Having throttle response on the steeps will be a 'new thang'.

Got the engine bay finished up today, wired and reassembled.
Oil, water, grounds, plugs...etc all done, just need to time the dizzy and install the wires.

Looking good, so when are you going to post some action pics?

Dayum,:haha: just barely got it running tonight, soon though.

I have no idea of the cam the P/O installed when they did the 383, I'll need to play around with the timing to get it right.
It's currently set @ zero and it seems pretty doggy.

Runs good, no leaks.

Still waiting to receive the spark plug wires I ordered. (armored against heat)
The plug wires on it right now are totally junk so there's no reason to do a tune yet.

what upper hose and t state housing did you use?

Upper hose is from the 90 blazer (cut down some) and the t-stat housing came from the original 350 carb motor that was in it.

Don't really have any more info on that one.

on Arturo's he ended up running a flex hose cause none of the ones we found worked. I'll check again for a 90.

Wow, looks great :waytogo: !!

Thanks but I still have some 'tidying' up to do and the pics I took are pretty bad, they really don't show much.

The wiring harness came out really clean and out of harms way, looking forward to beating on it some to see what it'll do. :D

Swapped out the headers for a set of 2.5" center dump vette manifolds.

Changed out the plugs wires too.

Ended up going with a fuel cell w/internal pump.

Gained 4"s of ground clearance below the frame with that little mod. :D

As always, super nice work. I have stolen some of your ideas to.:D

Lookin Good!!
Skid plate that tank NOW! hehheee I made mine..not to hard I used 1x2 square tubing and sheet steel. Made a box around the tank and welded the sheet steel to the box. Doit before you regret it :D

Looks great, I bought a set of the Corvette ram horns a couple weeks ago for the K5. Will get them installed + new exhaust once I get all the bugs worked out. Did your ram horns have the mounts to the front of the engine that you had to cut off?

Yep, already in the works.
I have a factory skid plate from a 90 blazer that I'm going to cut down, weld up and bolt on.

The factory metal tank I pulled out had a dent in it the size of fist and was starting to weep fuel, lesson learned right there.

YJ, correct on the manifold mounts, they had em and I just ground them off cause I had zero extra room.
These are remans, so when I ordered them, I ordered 2 drivers side manifolds.
That way each will accept a donut and that means no need to mess with the old heat riser issue.

I am thinking of doing tbi on my motor but didn't think it could feed much more than 250hp, how are you getting around that to feed a 383?

My understanding is that the 'inability' of the TBI comes @ higher rpm's or more so wide open throttle.
Based on that and a mild or near stock cam, it seems to run great.

I didn't build the 383 motor so I'm sorta shooting in the dark on the cam thing but it does run good, so it can't be anything to much different than stock.
That's where the TBI will give issue's, the cam needs to be correct for the application.

I plan on changing the chip, found a site that sells a chip that can 'help' the computer work better with the increased cubes.

Still learning the injection thing, so keep in mind that all info offered is merely what I've read or had to deal with on my own stuff.
