After all these years of running those too big/too heavy/bald in the back Baja Claws I finally got a decent set of tires... 35x15.5-15 TSL SX's...

I have a loose ball-joint in the front (more on that later) so I couldn't go crazy but I did go around the block and they don't seem all that bad, but then again I don't really care because I don't dd it and it gets towed everywhere...

It's nice to finally have tread up front and out back :wink1:

Oh, and the best part of all... I FINALLY have a fullsize spare. It needs a patch but it'll work great as a spare...

Nope 15x10... they're the same wheels I had my 38.5/16 baja claws on... I'll see how they do, I might eventually have to find some 15x12's but I doubt it.

Don't leave your truck parked there too long, the city will fine you...

:smirk:

man those tires look 100x better then your old baja claws! i like your truck!

looks better now the baja claws look good but dont perform as well as they look anyways looks better. Whats the story on the loose ball joint?

I'm not sure... I generally only drive the truck on the weekends and even then it's just through the neighborhood and down the freeway then back on surface streets, just to keep it running and make sure I don't get flat spots.
Anyways, before we left for Pismo I rebuilt the front end (all new bearings, seals and u-joints) and it worked out great... BUT once we got it home I found out one of the spindle nuts had some how backed off and the hub had some play in it.

So I tore it down and fixed it and everything was good to go, I even jacked it up two times after that (over the course of two weeks) to check for play and it was nice and tight.

But then last night when I jacked it up to yank the claws off to start the dismounting disaster I heard what sounded like a metal on metal tap of some sort (sounded like the hub was loose again) so I checked it out and to my surprise everything was tight (so it wasn't the spindle nuts) but if you grab the hub and pull up/push down you can see where it's rocking back and forth on the ball joint.

So crap, another project... but I had to get the wheels/tires done today b/c the k10 was jacked up in the driveway... so I spent all day getting the new wheels/tires and get them home and get stuff mounted and to my surprise when I mounted the passenger side (the loose ball joint is on the driver's side) it tightened up... so I'm not sure, somethings fishy and I didn't have time to figure it out.

It's not magically fixed but it's not nearly as loose as it was last night so I'm not sure what's going on.

I'll check it out when I have time to tear things apart... but until then it just sits so no harm there...

easy fix-dana 60 :D

Sounds good to me, I'm tired of putting $$$ into a 10b... of course with 35's my ground clearance would suck. :D

hijack could you post up some more pics of the front shackel mounts?

No, they're ghetto and you don't want to copy them. :D

I only use them for a place to jack the front up with the hi-lift... I'm on the hunt for some factory style tow hooks...

My four claws (two worn to the wear bars and two in good shape) + $300 for these 5 TSL's, (plus I drove to Visalia to pick them up)...
These have tons of tread but they do have some rock rash (although one of them is brand new) and two had a leak. I fixed one already and it's good to go. The other one (the spare I pictured last) will need a patch so I'll probably do that tomorrow afternoon and it'll be good to go.
But overall I'm happy... probably not for a dd but they'll get me through while I finish building up the k10 around them :)

Are you going to be at church in the morning? I'll park it out in the back of the lot with the rest of the trucks...

I'm thinking a trip to hollister after I fix some stuff to run it through the mud pit would be a good test :)

I'll be there this weekend with a bunch of friends.

I just finished telling Ryan that once I get this ball joint fixed and do x-over up front (and at the very least a locker out back) I'd like to plan a trip up there...
