Got the first phase of the cage done.

Not yet, only so much in my budget, the only reason I could do this was I had a nice Can-back to sell. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Yeah, I like that design too...

But I don't see much point in the fore/aft straight down the middle bars.

As for rear access with lateral support, think "V" and walk through the middle. Little tykes that can get themselves into a seat can crawl under on the sides and into the seat. If they need help with (or checking of) the belts, go through the center. Getting the really little ones into the back is more of an adventure, but with the height on these things, you can't really just lean in from the side (with seat forward) anyway... I think I would just set them into a seat, crawl in, and set them through the center. Doesn't seem that much worse. Anyway, looking good! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Yeah, it looks like the fore/aft bars dead end but maybe he's saving up for the windshield bars at which point the front section will have function.
Man Russ, you should get rid of the old pics of your truggy and replace them with pics of it with the new nose. That full hood is fuggly!

How the heck did you ever drive that thing with the full width hood? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Fuggly is an understatement. But I do what I can when I can afford it. Up till now I've avoided wasting any of my limited resources on anything other than things that will get me further on a tougher trail. I've been saving $$$ for the latest round of mods ever since my work picked back up. Only problem is, now I don't have time to finish it between work and family. <sigh> Gotta get it finished so I can get some of those new pics! [ QUOTE ]

Ever seen a blind man drive? Lets just say I had to trust my spotter! But then again, you know a thing or two about that too don't you? /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

You don't have to. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

I still would like to mount my Tuffy console in the middle so I couldn't get back there that way anyway, it sure is nice with nothing there now but could always add to it.

A quick closeup one.

Just curious, why didn't you run the halo farther back over the cargo area?

BTW - LOOKS GOOD!

Are you going with a 5 pt. harness at any point? I noticed you still had the factory seat belt in place.

Looks really rigid /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Eric

Mostly for looks, I don't really like the looks of them when they go all the way to the back and IF I ever wanted to bob the rear I could without messing with the cage.

I will add a harness at a later date with new seats but still want the ease of use (going to the mall) that the factory belts offer.

okay comon more pics web daddy , i really want to see some detailed pics of it going through the dash PLEASE

COOL!

Do you still have the same amount of lift? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Any idea how many feet of tubing that represents? I'd guess you've added a couple hundred pounds with that bad boy!

Judging by the 4 vertical legs within about 2 feet over the rear seat....Margie doesn't trust your driving much.
Looks like all DOM tube too, good for you using the right stuff.

An idea for the B hoop bracing - make it an X or V shape and have make it removable. I'm not a fabricator so I don't know how structurally sound it would be but I thought I'd throw out there for you to mull over.
As for the windshield frame/firewall support - did you brace that yet or are you waiting for when you put the 73-75 windshield frame in? If it's braced then how's it done? (pics would be good too!). /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
