got the new rod/reel

I stopped by a shop near the airport in Mobile the other day and found a deel I could not pass up.
It was an early B-Day present anyway, so I got exactly what I wanted, and only a few days early.

Shimano Curado CU200DHSV.....7:1
Challenger rod (MH) 6'6". I wanted to get a Falcon or a rod-smith but it was too much of a price difference between the two.

Buzzbaits here I come.

Now all you have to do is find a barracuda that likes buzz baits.

Just caught the first bass with the new combo. The usual size Largemouth.

I immediately noticed how this new rod is more sensitive when the fish hits, but less when you are bouncing lures off the bottom, stick, rocks and such. This might take me a little while to get used to.

Late BD. It was Dec 30.

I have been fishing this combo every day since I got it. I was out most of the day yesterday. The temp was 38F with a 20 Mph wind from the north. Cold, cold, cold.

The current temp is 27 with a mild wind, and I am going fishing again.

Yeah, I spent all day today fishing. I just came in the house 10 minutes ago.
And I didn't even catch one fish. I think the cold front drove them all deep, and they are lethargic.
