all i know is that i have been hearing a sqeak about a week ...but i thought it was the rear-end ......it would onlt start sqeaking when you got passed 15mph so i couldnt pin point....guess i do now

Well, at least its easy to check your chain for slack now......

I'm pretty sure it is caused by vibration in the front driveline. Had a buddy in the local club break the case in his XJ on the interstate a couple years ago. Have any slop in the front CV?

I bet it run out of oil, then locked up a bearing causing the damage.

Seems logical, where the case cracked makes me think it is definitely related to the front output or driveshaft.

I had a front driveshaft slip yoke gall once and it cracked the transmission case because it wouldn't compress.

To the OP I would investigate a cause for the failure before just throwing another T-case in there.

that does make me wonder ...thanks guys i was goin to just throw another one in ..... does both tires have to be off the ground to check for slop ????

From the looks of it, unless you cleaned up one hell of a mess of ATF there was little to no lube in that t-case and is why it exploded. :deal:

Who says you can't do 65 with TSL's?? I had my old old 35" boggers doing 80 around the DC beltway, my old 40" boggers around 70 or so (no speedo) and the 35" boggers I have now at least 70. The last two sets weren't even balanced....

I'd say cause it's a Jeep, I hate them, despise them, wouldn't bother me at all if I never see one again, or ever have to touch one. The wife has a 97 that I can't figure out what the hell is wrong with it. Jeep, Junk Each n Every Piece. Built by Mopar no less, Miscellaneous Odd Parts Assembled Randomly. OK rant over.

4x4high yeah there was no fluids drippin when i pulled over lack of maintnece on my part .....guess i topping everything off ; axles and all before it hits the road ..... b454rat... i just didnt know if it was good or not ...its my second set and never had a blow out or flat "knock on wood" but yeah i dont like jeeps either but i do like the 4.0 ....i just have to much money in this one to not turn into a trail truck .......long arms and all the stuff to go with it ...i like to have a 2 door 1994 and less S-10 blazer to trail with
